You Can Find Mouse Tutorials. You Guessed It, On Your Computer!

Okay, so using a mouse comes second nature to some people—yes, people who have been raised on PCs, video games and handheld portable devices.  However, there is an entire generation of users, young and old, who haven’t the slightest idea how to work a computer mouse.  A mouse is a fairly basic device that just takes some getting use to.  You might think of it as a third hand, a computerized wand that takes you where you want to go on the computer screen.  You move the mouse around the mouse pad or desk areas and follow the arrow key.  You take action by clicking the left button and take more complex action by clicking the right button.

Now, if you’re an experienced PC user looking up general mouse information, we apologize for that very happy moment.  The fact of the matter is that mouse devices can be fairly complex; especially with the new features manufacturers are incorporating into these little computerized critters.  After all, some “mice” are now wireless, light-based or finger based, such as on a laptop computer.  Some mouse devices have a clickable scroll wheel that lets you scroll down the screen without physically leaving a highlighted point with the arrow.

If you are in need of some mouse lessons, or want to teach a new computer user how to use this device, you can find mouse tutorials online.  These graphical tutorials can teach users how to place the mouse, how to click the mouse, how to drag and drop and how to draw with the device.  Remember that while these actions might appear to be easy, they aren’t always easy to master; and some employment agencies will actually test applicants on the efficiency of their mouse-maneuvering and typing speed.

Where did the term mouse come from anyway?  It originally came from the Stanford Research Institute who figured that their early models resembled a mouse in form, given the long cord that was attached to the rear part of the device.  So yes, in case you’re wondering, if you hold a mouse by the tail you can do some damage.  (Though it’s unlikely your PC will attempt to bite you.)

The very first mouse or trackball device was created in 1952 by members of the Royal Canadian Navy DATAR project.  The idea wasn’t patented, as it was a military project, but would continue to be improved as the decades passed.  You can find some helpful PC tutorials online that teach you how to work the mouse and keyboard for absolutely free.
